Camp Pontiac is located in Copake, New York in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. The Berkshires have long been considered a wonderful summer resort with beautiful landscape, culture, arts and antiques.
We are located only two hours from Manhattan and 2.5 hours from Boston and are situated on 150 picturesque acres with a beautiful 65 acre spring-fed lake. Pontiac accommodates approximately 550 boys and girls from ages 7 to 16. Our campers hail from various states throughout the country.
On a typical day you will get at least one period off (out of five). During your off periods, you will have use of all courts and fields (when available), waterfront (but only if lifeguards are available and on-duty), Canteen, counselor lounge, ice cream parlor (when open) and on-camp movie theater (when available). Staff are on duty and are responsible for campers four nights per week; the other three nights, staff are free to enjoy their evening on or off camp. There is a camp curfew each evening.
Each staff member gets one day off per week during weeks 2 through 6; your day off will be determined during Staff Orientation. Places to visit on days off include New York City, Boston, Great Barrington, Hudson and Albany.
