Central Plateau Cleanup Company

About Central Plateau Cleanup Company

Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo) brings the depth and breadth of three leading nuclear industry companies — Amentum, Fluor, and Atkins — making it the single largest and most experienced nuclear End-State delivery team whose single purpose is to execute critical operations and remediation work at the Hanford Site.

In 2019, the Department of Energy (DOE) selected CPCCo as the prime contractor responsible for advancing the cleanup mission toward final End-States in both the Central Plateau and remaining work at the River Corridor. Once our mission is completed, more than 200 square miles will be released to long-term stewardship and the active cleanup footprint will shrink the Central Plateau. CPCCo’s work encompasses a variety of tasks, including the management of wastes and nuclear material; remediation of contaminated waste sites; deactivation, decommissioning, decontamination, and demolition (D4) of facilities; and management of the site groundwater program.

Our plan is to build on our successes, completing contract work scope in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective manner that supports DOE’s strategic plan. CPCCo’s contract with DOE authorizes work in support of the following overarching priorities:

• Protect the Columbia River
• Reduce hazards and risks to human health and the environment
• Reduce the active cleanup footprint and long-term lifecycle costs

To CPCCo, excellent performance means achievement of priority End-States and regulatory milestones to reduce risk and lifecycle costs; advance the Hanford Site in carbon footprint reduction in work performance (i.e., eliminate the environmental impact of the work itself); and development and retention of a versatile, agile workforce, adaptable to changing priorities. We remain committed and ready to meet the challenges that are part of safe environmental remediation and provide new opportunities for our employees to engage in our mission and grow their careers.

Environmental Intern

October 2018 Richland, WA
“It was great to learn more about what happens at Hanford, I've lived in the area and never knew it was mostly environmental clean up. Many of the people were kind, helpful, and really invested in helping interns learn as much as they can in the time they are there. ”
