I enjoyed obtaining experience leading and being in charge of both the beach and the pool on shifts through my job as a head lifeguard. I also enjoyed teaching children to swim through the Red Cross Learn to Swim Program at the Eden Prairie Community Center. Seeing the progress of my children over the course of each session made me proud. My boss and coworkers were enjoyable to be around and I enjoyed going to work each day. I also had the opportunity to work with a child with severe autism during private swim lessons which I found very rewarding.
What I wish was different
Nothing, I had a very positive experience.
Advice
I would say to keep at your job and keep making connections and working your way up. I started as a Swim Instructor Aide and worked up to being a head lifeguard!
