I loved being able to get hands-on experience that taught me many skills. I learned how to use MicroStation and ArcMap GIS which will be incredibly valuable skills in my future career. It also gave me ample opportunity to practice personal management, data collection, organization, and communication skills. On top of the skills I learned, PBOT strives to give every intern a variety of interesting experiences and projects to work on. This made it an incredibly supportive learning environment and an amazing place to work.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had been able to complete more work orders while I was there. I found them to be an incredibly fun and rewarding project to work on, even if it was slightly outside of the scope of what I had been brought in to do.
Advice
I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in traffic engineering to apply for this internship. It has heavily solidified my interest in traffic engineering and given me experience that I do not think I could have gotten anywhere else.
