I loved learning about tenants’ rights advocacy and working face to face with folks in the community. I was able to improve my Spanish language skills and made a noticeable impact though city council advocacy and coalition meetings with other tenants’ rights orgs throughout la.
What I wish was different
I wish that there had been more variety int he work. After about a month in, the daily schedule because a bit repetitive and made me feel less impactful.
Advice
I wish I would’ve taken the lead on more projects early on. Once I gained more confidence with the leadership, I was able to develop an exciting work plan.
