Geology Research Assistant

June 2023 • Hamilton, NY

What I liked

I really liked how I got to experience hands-on work in a lab and got to discover my likes and dislikes. I liked that I got to learn and dip my foot into various things: basic wet lab skills, diatom taxonomy, how to use a light microscope and scanning electron microscope, and software like Ocean Data View and Adobe Illustrator. Additionally, I got the opportunity to see what it was like in that specific field of geology and if I would want to continue pursuing it in the future.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

May - July 2021 • Hamilton, NY

What I liked

l was really glad to get experience presenting on the research. I also enjoyed learning about the project and also learning how to use lots of different instruments such as PXRD, SEM, and IR

What I wish was different

l was the only student on my project, and so working full-time alone in the lab became a bit lonely and tedious by the end. I think I prefer a more collaborative environment.

Physics Research Intern

May - July 2018 • Hamilton, NY

What I liked

I got to learn real technical skills that I can apply to any science field that I choose to go into. As part of the research, I presented a talk at Middlebury, which helped me communicate scientific ideas better. I would highly recommend astronomy students to apply to the KNAC program.
