I loved how fun and interactive this job was! Every day you got to go on outdoor activities with people with disabilities! It was so cool to make a difference and be a part of the outdoor recreation industry! I am majoring in special education so it was a great experience!
What I wish was different
I wish there was better instruction and management. There were a few times where they would put me in charge of an activity with participants without much instruction which could be frustrating. We were also very understaffed in the summer which made it so we had to go on activities without other staff and work more hours than was required of us.
Advice
I would say that Common Ground is a great organization, if you want to learn more about adaptive outdoor recreation then this job is for you! It was a great experience and I throughly enjoyed my time there. It was a really fun summer job!
