All of the people I worked with were very nice and accommodating. The facility is interesting and there is a lot of cool machinery that I got to learn about. My favorite part of the job was the fieldwork I got to do with taking stormwater and wastewater samples. As well as chemical inventories and audits.
What I wish was different
A lot of the work is in the office which can be a little boring. I found that there were many periods of extended downtime and I heard it was similar for interns in other departments as well. In addition, I wished there was a greater push from upper management to take sustainable initiatives on a company scale. One of my coworkers and I did a lot of prep work to present different ways to meet environmental goals but it seemed they went nowhere.
Advice
I would not take this position unless you are interested in a career in EH&S. I was under the impression I would be more involved with sustainability initiatives but I realized quickly it is hard to promote sustainability as an intern. I did get to organize Earth Day events and make informative posters but nothing on a company scale that would make a difference. So if your focus is safety and compliance, this is the job for you.

Advice
Come ready to learn, sometimes you are given task that you are unsure how to complete. This alone helps you grow as am employee. Critical thinking and creativity are essential. Ask questions and never doubt yourself! There is no such thing as an unintelligent question and management will appreciate you being submersed in the process. I highly recommend an internship at Danbury.

The thing I have valued most about my co-op has been the ability to work with many different areas, everyone has always been willing to teach me new things, and I have been able to contribute meaningful work towards real projects.
What I wish was different
More collaborative work.
Advice
This was a fantastic opportunity and I learned so much.
The people I worked with and the projects they give you. They are all there to help and they support you in all ways. I was once cold in the office and they got me a space heater for example.
What I wish was different
Since they are a whole new business the transition will be difficult but that's what occurs with change. So my only wish is that it changes quicker.
Advice
Come in with some VBA knowledge as automation is something big here.
