The staff is friendly, and the sites mission is very inspirational.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to do different things, and work on more projects.

It is important to be empathetic to each family you interact with. The families we talk to are often times struggling, so we need to be sensitive to that and make them feel better.

Nursing Inter

May - August 2018 • Dayton, OH

What I liked

This internship worked well for me because I really wanted to go home for the summer but still wanted to get some nursing experience. I was really glad that I got to work in the PICU because I had never had any ICU experience before and learned a lot.

What I wish was different

I wish that I been less hesitant at the beginning of the internship. There was a lot more freedom than in clinical and it took me a couple of days to adjust.

Advice

I would advise anyone that wants to do a nursing internship over the summer to get as much as they can out of it. Once I got acclimated and started to ask to do skills myself, I had a much more valuable experience.
