Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez represents California's 80th Assembly District. The daughter of an immigrant farmworker and a nurse, Lorena was raised to value hard work and determination. She attended public schools in San Diego County before earning her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, her master’s from Georgetown and her Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law.
After completing her education, Lorena worked as the Senior Advisor to former California Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante. In January of 2008, Lorena was elected as CEO and Secretary-Treasurer of the San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council, AFL-CIO. Lorena became the first woman and person of color to be elected to head the Labor Council since the organization was founded in 1891. While with the Labor Council, Lorena led a number of initiatives to strengthen job quality, public safety, education, public transportation and access to health care. In May of 2013, Lorena was elected to the State Assembly to represent the 80th Assembly District.

California’s 80th Assembly District is comprised of portions of Chula Vista, National City and San Diego. Including the communities of Barrio Logan, Bonita, Chollas View, City Heights, Egger Highlands, Golden Hill, Grant Hill, Logan Heights, Mountain View, Nestor, Ocean View Hills, Otay Mesa, Paradise Hills, Rancho Del Rey, Ridgeview, San Ysidro, Shelltown, Sherman Heights, Southcrest, Stockton and Webster.
