Don Gorvett Gallery and Studio have provided internships for students for almost two decades. An internship with artist Don Gorvett is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wishes to understand the woodcut printmaking process and experience working in a fine art gallery. Mr. Gorvett provides two to four internships throughout the year. All interns will have the opportunity to create woodcuts under the guidance of Don Gorvett in his studio.
Some students may work directly with the artist in the production of his woodcuts in the studio or help catalog the artist’s inventory. We require a commitment of 25 hours per week for ten weeks. Other responsibilities include opening or closing the studio and gallery, maintaining an appealing environment, talking with gallery visitors about the woodcut process, and assisting with workshops, exhibitions, and other galley-related events.
We are happy to speak with interested students or educators about the internship program. This is an unpaid internship, yet college credit can be granted to students through your school. If you are interested in becoming an intern, and willing to fulfill the various responsibilities, please email a brief letter of interest stating why you would like the position and your current resume.
We review and accept applications throughout the year. Please note we have two locations, Portsmouth, NH, and Gloucester, MA.
