Earlens

Manufacturing Engineer Intern

June 2022 • Menlo Park, CA

What I liked

The workplace environment is very friendly and yet competitive. It was great seeing what my role does and talking to other interns about what they were doing, which makes you want to further improve yourself and tasks given. Everyone is pretty open and laid back so if you have any questions, people are very willing to help and give very good feedback.

What I wish was different

I don't wish for anything different I was very comfortable with the environment and the people. A company where people are very driven to get successful results, individually and in group.

Advice

Make connections and questions! In my experience, every person I met or reached out to, I would ask about their roles and it would give another insight to what others are doing for the company.

Digital Manufacturing Engineer Intern

June 2022 • Menlo Park, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed the work culture / atmosphere and the set standards / clear goals provided to demonstrate success. I also enjoyed the mentorship and access to technical projects with the opportunity to contribute and improve company functions.

What I wish was different

I don't have too many adjustments to be made to the internship process, as I enjoyed all aspects thoroughly.

Advice

I would advise people to always ask questions if they need any sort of clarification in regard to a technical procedure or deliverables that need to be more clearly defined. You will definitely gain what you put into the position, and there is a lot of knowledge to be gained through a variety of resources at Earlens.

Research and Development Engineering Intern

June - August 2022 • Menlo Park, CA

What I liked

I thought the people were very welcoming and helpful. Despite being the youngest and more unexperienced (if not most) employee, I felt that everyone was very approachable. Even the people who were not in my team nor directly connected to my projects were very helpful and gave away their time to help me. The actual work I did was also interesting and relevant to my future career goals.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a bit more design work, but I could understand why I was doing mostly test work for the company.

Advice

Do not be afraid to reach out to others in the company.
