Software Engineering Intern

What I liked

The company has an incredible culture of work-life balance, humility, and general positivity! Everyone I interacted with at Education.com was very welcoming and friendly from day one. My engineering team was patient with me as I ramped up, and adjusted to my skills and experience. I also loved what I was working on - making educational games for elementary school kids! Working on something I believe in and doing it with genuine people - I couldn't have asked for more out of an internship experience.

What I wish was different

I worked mostly on games throughout the summer which was fun and rewarding because I could take complete ownership over my work since they were solo engineering projects, outside of asking my teammates questions. I would have liked to spend more time working collaboratively or on the main website, but this was also the nature of only being there for a summer.

Advice

Join Education.com! It really is an awesome place to work. Also, find people that have the same idea of "work-life balance" as you. Whatever that looks like to you, look around - are your teammates doing the same? Otherwise you may feel pressured to sacrifice some of your personal health and happiness, and that will only limit your potential as a person and engineer!
