Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge

About Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge

Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge (ECWR) is a wildlife rehabilitation facility located in the Florida panhandle. The daily operational goal is for the rescue, rehabilitation, and release for the injured and orphaned native Florida wildlife in our area. We offer various educational programs for local schools, community groups, and general visitors as well. Outside of responding to terrestrial wildlife in distress, ECWR also manages sea turtle and marine mammal strandings along the Emerald Coast area of the Gulf of Mexico. Overall we see almost 2,000 wildlife patients each year, along with about 20 marine mammals and 5-10 sea turtles. Every day brings something new and interesting to the facility!

Reviews

Spring Intern

February 2023 - May 2023 Navarre, FL
“This was my first hands on experience with wildlife and I absolutely loved it! The staff, volunteers, and wildlife director were so helpful throughout the entire internship. Classes were provided by the wildlife director, Michelle, that showed and prepped you for the oncoming week of a new area. I really enjoyed the teaching environment as it allowed me to feel comfortable in asking questions and knowing that there is no such thing as stupid questions. ”

Animal Care Intern

May 2020 - July 2020 Navarre, FL
“I got so much hands-on medical and animal care experience with wildlife that I would not have been able to get anywhere else.”
