Ensign-Bickford Industries, Inc.

Human Resources Intern

November 2020 • Denver, CO

What I liked

I loved the constant challenge and real-world experience I received. I was able to get exposure to may different levels of the company, including executive leadership.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to do more in person events with business units across the country and travel to those locations.

Advice

Be a learner and ask questions!! I learned so many things from asking questions to whoever was speaking.

Human Resources Intern

May 2019 • Portland, ME

What I liked

I was a Human Resources Intern at EBI this summer. I got to work on real projects related to University Recruiting like managing the day-to-day of the summer internship program & coordinating fall recruitment activities.

What I wish was different

Nothing! My summer experience was great. We were exposed to leadership throughout the organization, my team was very helpful, and I was trusted to work on my projects independently. There were fun intern events and I even got to travel to some of the other business units.

Quality Engineer Intern

May - August 2018 • Simsbury, CT

What I liked

I interned at Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense (EBAD), which is one of the businesses under Ensign Industries (EBI) and I absolutely loved the environment of the company. It was an amazing community and everyone was willing to help you with anything, regardless of if they were on your "team" or not. In addition, I loved being a part of the aerospace and defense industry. The projects we worked on day in and day out were truly amazing and it was super exciting watching launches and having my boss say "we made that part right there!". And going along with that, eventhough the company may be smaller, we got to work on projects for very large aerospace and defense companies (Boeing, Raytheon, etc.). It was pretty amazing to also be building some of those connections as well!

What I wish was different

There really isn't much I can comment on here. I guess the only thing would be that their intern program wasn't super organized, but they were definitely working super hard this summer to gain a lot of feedback to make improvements for next year!

Advice

Don't be afraid to take a position if you don't entirely know what that position entails. Going into this internship I had no idea what quality engineering was, but this summer I learned so much and truly loved what I did!
