What I liked

I loved my co-workers and bosses! The entire office was run by women!

What I wish was different

I ended up working a lot of overtime, to about 55 hours per week. Working less would have been better for my mental health.

Advice

There is canvassing involved in this job, so buy good walking shoes!

Grassroots Canvasser

What I liked

I loved working for a campaign that I personally felt connected to. We canvassed all throughout California-mainly many neighborhoods and also in San Diego to help ban single-use plastic item that cause so much damage to our ecosystem and wildlife. I had this job while I was traveling in California (I am originally from Maine), so this experience just added to what I was already experiencing during my travels.

What I wish was different

I didn't particularly like the script we had to consistently stick to. As a more creative thinker, I felt like I received more signatures and donations when I strayed from the script and sounded less robotic. However, the theme in the office was to only stick to this script, which we practiced every day.
