I thoroughly enjoyed working for Espiritus! I was made integral to the post-production phase of the documentary series immediately, with a real sense that what I was doing was having tangible impacts on the project. There were no coffee runs. I felt like I was part of a family immediately, and that my opinions and efforts were valued.
What I wish was different
A simply unfortunate fact of the internship was that I had to return to school before I was able to take part in pick-up shoots, which were moved to after my final day. This was not a shortcoming of the position, just the way shoots can work!
Advice
The position definitely required autonomy and the ability to focus on projects that were not always directly overseen. There was plenty of desk-work and research involved, and anyone considering the position should be confident in their abilities to stay on task in front of a computer, and often times problem solve independently.
