ESSENCIA AIR

Marketing Intern

May - September 2020 • Miami, FL

What I liked

I had my first internship experience with Essencia Air and it was an amazing experience. Liz and Giamo are great mentors and were extremely friendly and easy to reach. This internship provided the chance to use my marketing knowledge in real-world scenarios and definitely helped me regarding my future endeavors in the marketing world. Essencia Air is a company that I would highly suggest to any person looking to gain experience in sales, marketing, graphic design and more.

What I wish was different

The internship occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic, which made it difficult to meet in person with the other interns, and Liz and Giamo. Besides this, we used our resources to the best of our ability to complete weekly tasks to gain experience and help the company grow.

Marketing Intern/Blogger

January - April 2019 • Miami, FL

What I liked

This internship was my favorite one so far. I was able to apply what I learned in my marketing and business classes (Marketing Strategy, Social Media, Sales, Environmental Management...). Liz and Giamo were amazing mentors that kept encouraging me and gave me the opportunity to be myself and express my creativity through blogs, emails, social media posts, marketing campaigns, designs, plant arrangements, and much more. I was given diverse and interesting tasks every single week. The workplace environment is great and diversified. If you don't want to stay in a closed office for hours, this is the internship you need. We mostly worked outdoors and remotely. We had one in-person meeting and one phone meeting a week (flexible). Moreover, Giamo and Liz are so dedicated and passionate that it becomes contagious and it makes you want to work longer with them on new projects! Also, they welcome students from all around the world. That cultural diversity brings a lot of positivity, innovation and gives you the opportunity to learn new skills.

What I wish was different

Teamwork activity in the beginning. Longer internship.

Advice

Don't underestimate small businesses. They teach you the most about the business world and you will have the opportunity to do more tasks, which will expand your skillset. Don't hesitate to show all your knowledge because they may add great value to the company and open new doors. Don't hesitate to ask questions to learn as much as you can. Liz and Giamo are very nice and will answer all your questions. Moreover, teamwork and time management are important skill you must have for this internship.

Marketing Intern / Graphic Design / Video Editing

May - August 2019 • Miami, FL

What I liked

Essencia Air provided an amazing platform and opportunity to apply skills and knowledge that I learned in University. For me, most of the works and tasks that I did are implemented in their brand development and posted on their social media. I did not only gained lots of insight about the succulent/house plant industry, but I also get to expose to the real business world. Plus, they're really patience with questions and willing to teach you all the knowledge they know!

What I wish was different

More team building events will be better!

Advice

Be open minded, be creative and be patient.

What I liked

Essencia Air is a company that students with varying backgrounds could learn from. Specifically business majors, English Majors, Graphic designers, and Environmental majors could benefit in brainstorming and working for Essencia Air. Liz and Giamo have a plethora of experience regarding the way businesses run. You will learn a lot that one couldn't learn in larger companies. They give you assignments that you can use in your portfolio and you get a hands on experience of how companies are ran. I was able to develop my talents during the summer and because of this received great job offers suited to my major. You also build connections in South Florida and get to participate in vending events that are both a fun and educational experience.

What I wish was different

I wish it was longer.

Advice

Take in as much as you can while you're here. Learn as much as you can from Liz and Giamo. They're great mentors and have a lot to teach.
