Process Engineer Intern

June - August 2020 • Pine Bluff, AR

What I liked

I really enjoyed the fast-paced mill environment and associated activities (such as shutdowns/retrofits and daily operations planning) that came with the position. I also loved the "learning on the job" aspect of things, where I was able to talk to basically anyone and ask them about whatever it was I needed help with.

What I wish was different

Unfortunately, COVID really didn't help with the experience, and really hindered the possibilities for me and my fellow interns to do some fun things. But besides that, I wish that my assigned projects had been monitored a little more and that I had a more structured learning environment as opposed to having to seek out information on my own.

Advice

Learn to be okay with not knowing things. Ask questions and be able to roll with the punches to adapt to changes as they come. But above that, enjoy what you do and find the fun aspects of things hidden among the work.

Capital Project Intern

May - August 2019 • Pine Bluff, AR

What I liked

I liked how helpful the management team and fellow engineers were. Almost anyone at the mill would answer any questions that you had. They made me feel that my work as an intern was helpful and important. I also liked seeing all of the mechanical processes at the mill.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have done more hands on projects.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Be prepared to be in a hot environment.
