What I liked

Creative freedom was one of my most loved things that hardly made this a job. I liked who I worked with, and who I entertained.

What I wish was different

The times of schedule release were often inconsistent or late and sometimes I felt like the people I was working for didn’t have the correct resources being provided to them.

Advice

Startups are risky, sometimes you don’t get paid. If you aren’t in the project, the project and you will fail. If people disagree and don’t communicate, everything falls apart. Communication is not success, but it is certainly a part of it. Every time a coworker communicates an issue, it can be resolved. Every time they don’t, it only festers and adds frustration. Take care of your coworkers. But most of all to those in acting and immersive experiences, please appeal to your first timer guest, they are often confused and without context. You are their Shepard in the dark of any new experience. Be kind most of all to them.

Makeup intern

What I liked

I loved learning about makeup and what techniques to use when the actors are up close and personal. We also used silicone masks to enhance features like noses.

What I wish was different

I wish that Evermore would have communicated better with me about the startup of the season. When I finally joined the team there was only 3 weekends left until they closed for the season. And I couldn’t complete my hours. There were also rumors floating around that Evermore Park was shutting down and people weren’t getting paid. So not only were they closing for the season (with little hope of completing my internship of returning next season.) they weren’t making enough money to support ever opening up again.

Advice

Communication is definitely the best tool to use in a proper business. If nobody is putting in the effort to communicate, I would suggest to run as far away as possible. This “internship” has caused me nothing but problems because the business didn’t think it was necessary to communicate.
