Baby Sitter

May - August 2018 • Tucson, AZ

What I liked

I loved watching niece grow as I babysat her for the four months I was in Tucson. It was amazing watching her be able to learn new thing, and watch her rolls, and try different foods for the first time. It taught me more responsibility as I balanced classes(Online Classes) and watching her, squeezing in study hours whenever she was asleep.

What I wish was different

I actually wish I could have stayed with them to keep helping. My brother and his wife are both full-time workers, and I know it is hard to find someone to babysit. Before the person, they wanted to hire flip-flopped on them. I wish I was there to help until they found someone new. It was hard for me to hear about how the sitter changed on them, and then having to scramble to find a new one, while I went back to school.

Advice

Babysitting takes a lot of responsibility, and so does school. To do both at the same time you really need to understand your limit, and what must be done. It was fun having to do both, but it taught me what I could handle, and this got me ready for the school year. It taught me I could balance work, school, and my social life. I just have to know my limit when it comes to it.

What I liked

I love the kids I care for and the freedom to plan our days, and make the most of summer with them!

What I wish was different

I wish I had been paid more the amount of gas I used transporting the children to where they needed to go.

Advice

Nannying is a great way to develop patience and valuable organizational skills, because there are always a million things that need to be done all at once. This helps you to learn priortization and how to make a plan on the spot!
