What I wish was different
I do wish that I had more children to babysit.
Advice
I think that this is a great job, especially for anyone who wants to work with younger children one day, but I do not think that it is a high paying job.

I appreciate the opportunity I had to care for an amazing woman who has now passed away, Laura Lee. She was a bright human that shared her life stories with me. Laura's presence had an immense impact on my professional and personal life. I am grateful to have shared such rich moments/experiences with her on her last days of life.

Mother’s Helper
May - August 2019 • Atlanta, GA
What I liked
I liked that I was able to be paid to have fun. I enjoyed going to museums, parks, swimming lessons, pool dates, birthday parties, and various activities with the kids.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had been paid more for what I did. I was paid $70 a day which broke down to being $7.77 an hour. I think my time is worth more than that and I should have gotten a higher paying job.
Advice
I would make sure that you value your time. If you believe your time is worth $10 an hour for a summer job or an entry level job, make sure you only accept a job that is $10 or more an hour. Don’t cut yourself short.

Nanny
June - August 2019 • Chesterfield, MO
What I liked
I love this job because the kids are great, and I have watched the grow up for three years now. Also, I plan to be a teacher someday, so nannying gave me experience with working with kids.
What I wish was different
I worked a 45-50 hour work week, with 4 kids each day. It was a tiring job. I wish my days could have been shorter by not having an hour-long commute there and back.
Advice
The kids are not your best friends. There are times when you will have to enforce the rules and they won't like it. With that being said, you can learn so much from each child - it all just depends on your attitude. Go into it optimistic and the kids will start to feel like family.
