Working at a Catholic organization as a Catholic was awesome. Part of my job involved opportunities to grow in my faith, which I really appreciated. I also enjoyed my co-workers and learned skills that I can apply in the future such as data-entry, networking, and database organization.
What I wish was different
I would have liked to learn a little bit more about how my department worked with other department.
Advice
Getting to know your co-workers enhances the work experience.

What I liked
I loved so many different aspects of this journey in my life. I particularly loved gaining on-on- on exposure in the healthcare field. The exposure was raw, intricate, and beautiful. I loved meeting the people of Uganda, professionals, citizens, the sick, and children. I loved visiting neighboring villages and assisting in any ways that we could to alleviate their pain and suffering. I loved hearing the people's stories of trial and error, of perseverance and success. I loved meeting students, girls and boys and learning about their education and practices. I loved being involved in a mother's retreat which entailed holding their babies while they worked to make items that they could sell to support themselves. I loved developing real friendships with my fellow volunteers. I loved the spiritual emphasis throughout the month in connection with FOCUS. I loved exploring Africa and gaining a new perspective of the world as a whole.
What I wish was different
There is little to nothing that I wis had been different. The only thing that I can think of is, personally, I wish I had more medical training prior to the trip. More equipped, I could have been able to help the sick in Uganda more professionally and qualified.
Advice
Never pass up on an opportunity to do something unparalleled. Robert Frost once said, "two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference." Before this trip, I was apprehensive to commit due to personal concerns. However, I knew that I had to do this. Be bold. Live bold. Life is meant to be lived. Go live it.
