What I liked
First Trust struck an excellent, near 50/50 balance between education and project work. Because the majority of First Trust's software tools are made in-house, the learning curve was substantial. But regular guidance by mentors, dedicated training sessions, and accessible documentation overcame this barrier. I felt valued and invested in, and I enjoyed the relaxing, inviting workplace. I got to learn the Delphi language, explore client-side and database design, dive deeper into OOP, and code a new Windows application from the ground up. I even got to learn financial concepts through insightful department presentations. The project work challenged me, and the education I received will strengthen my career endeavors for years to come.
