Florida Justice Center

About Florida Justice Center

Our Mission:
To reduce the number of justice-involved people in Florida.

What We Do:
We give people a second chance by providing them with legal representation, bail assistance, reentry support, connections to social services, and the tools they need to succeed.

Who We Are:
Florida Justice Center is the first and only legal aid organization in Florida approved by the Supreme Court to provide criminal legal assistance. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that uses a holistic approach combining legal, mental health, and social services to address the factors leading to disproportionately high conviction rates for the poor and people of color. FLJC connects low-income first-time offenders, military veterans, and social justice advocates with free defense attorneys, bail assistance, and social services. We also offer wrap-around case management for returning citizens from prison.

The Florida Justice Center wants to help people get out of jail and keep them out of the justice system permanently.

Our Employees:
We are among the most diverse organizations in South Florida, with a wide variety of racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual identities. We currently employ an Executive Director, Director of Case Management, Director of Legal Services, Staff Attorney, and Operations Manager who provide hands-on supervision and training to all interns.

Legal Clinic Volunteer

June 2021 - August 2021 Miami, FL
“I liked the people that work and volunteer at the Legal Clinic. Everyone is very motivated on Social Jusrice. ”

Case Management Intern

January 2021 - May 2021 Oakland Park, FL
“As a Case Management Intern, I gained hands-on experience of what it takes to manage clients' concerns and connect them to community resources. Through the reentry program, I've gained a lot of technical experience and systemic knowledge that has guided me in my career development. I really liked how Florida Justice Center is aware of how events on the local, state, and national level would affect the organization's mission and processes. A passion to help the local community and justice-involved adults is a must in this internship. ”
