The number of patients I got to talk to, especially those who were lonely as I could see their happiness when they got to talk to somebody as some were there for weeks or longer alone with no family.
What I wish was different
Perhaps slightly better training or like a specific rule book with rules specific to your role and not just as a volunteer as different volunteers had different jobs like I had two jobs being bringing a food trolley around and escorting patients out of the building in a wheelchair per policy.
Advice
Its a great thing to do and I would advise that when unsure if a patient can receive something ask or do not give it as some foods are not in a patient's diet and can be harmful.
