I enjoyed the teamwork aspect of working with Garney everyone holds one another accountable when you are out on site, you also tend to build a great professional relationship with everyone you come in to contact with.

What I liked

I enjoyed learning about the construction industry. I though that the process of designing, constructing and verifying the building was interesting. I liked learning the submittal review process.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have seen more things go into the ground and onto the building that I was working on.

Advice

I would recommend that an incoming intern should ask many questions and simply speak up if you dont understand something.

Coordination in the beginning was vague and last minute but ended up okay

If you want a management or leadership position, you need to experience being the lowest on the totem pole.

Family Environment. There is no hierarchy structure, everyone is on the same level.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have worked longer.

Advice

In summer internships you only have 2/3 months to learn and make an impression. So work everyday as if it were your last to make a huge impact as an intern.

What I liked

The company's culture, the crew i worked with and the work itself. Building america is a great feeling everyday feel like i really found the company ill be working for after college.

What I wish was different

Nothing except wish i could stay longer

Advice

Always pick esop company's. if you the have opportunity to work for garney take it. Make sure to come into internship ready to learn and humble because college barely scratches the surface of what you need to know and if you act like you know everything it is going to negatively affect you greatly.

What I liked

Garney is the type of employer who wants all of their employees to succeed. They will help you build your skills in the field and office atmospheres. They also make sure your internship meets all the necessary requirements. Garney works hard, and does the job right.

What I wish was different

For the duration of the internship you have to use your own vehicle, so you need something reliable.

You get out what you put in. The harder you work the more you will learn and the better experience you will have.

I was offered a very in depth educational experience with regard to the construction management process. I was given as much responsibility that I requested and they were always willing to help with anything I had trouble with. If you get a chance to work with this company, absolutely take it.
