The journalists and other GBH employees I worked with over the summer were beyond welcoming. They were supportive with whatever help I needed but also helped me reach new heights as a budding journalist.
What I wish was different
I wish I was an in person intern, so that I would have been more physically immersed in my reporting.
Advice
Network while you're interning! You never know who could remain a long-lasting colleague in your life, or who could be the gateway to your next job.

Take advantage. Everyone wants to help you so if there’s a department you’re interested in set up a meeting to talk to them and they’ll talk to you.

I loved being able to take lead on projects and be involved in many different projects within the department (even if they weren't directly related to my specific group I was working with).
What I wish was different
I wish it was full time.
Advice
Speak up for yourself. If you want to be put on a project or have an interest in something going on, if you speak up and show interest there is a chance you will be able to be put on that project or sit in on a meeting or two.

I loved how busy my days were while interning. I felt like my work was making a impact, and I got to learn from very talented and influential leaders in the industry.

I wish there was more of a chance to sit in on meetings. I also wish we had a chance to present something to show what we had learned.
Advice
Go out of your way to meet as many people at the company as possible. People are very willing to grab coffee and chat with interns.
