I like being able to work at a camp and be with other people learning how to teach and learn from there.
What I wish was different
Everything was really good but I would like to be paid more.

What I liked
Nice environment and friendly coworkers. The amount of trust and responsibility given to take on projects. Good benefits. 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off).
What I wish was different
Sometimes overtime is mandatory, but that is understandable and was the nature of my position, other positions may not be like that.
Advice
GDLS really taught me a lot and allowed me to expand my knowledge and allowed me to take control of my projects and tasks I was on. I was “thrown in the fire” if you will, albeit it can be slightly overwhelming at times it helped me improve and get better at my job.

What I liked
As a veteran, I liked getting involved with government defense activities. I also enjoyed working with other Marines.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had a concrete offer with potential salary discussion at the end of my internship, however my department underwent a reorganization so my manager throughout most of the internship was no longer in charge of me.
Advice
Try as many things as comfortably possible. The experience one person might enjoy could come from a single environment or possibly after multiple.

What I liked
I liked that I was able to work directly with full time engineers in my work and able to use new software the company was implementing.
What I wish was different
I was able to work on about three good projects, but one took a long time so it ate up time during the summer. It would have been good to move to a new project.
Advice
Always ask questions when you are being given work and don't entirely understand what is being asked of you. This saves you and others a ton of time in the future.

What I liked
I liked that I was given multiple different tasks and was invited to many programs that informed me about the company
What I wish was different
I wish they had a group rotation program so that I could get to know the other groups to work for next year, but since it was only a 3 and a half month internship it would have been hard to do so anyways
Advice
Get to know as much as you can about your own job and others jobs while their. 3 months goes by a lot faster than you would believe. By learning as much as you can you are helping yourself in your own career decisions and making yourself a more valuable employee.
