I had an amazing time as an intern in the Professional Products Department in the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company. I liked that I got excellent professional experience by calling on current customers and potential new customers. My boss was a wonderful mentor to me during my time there and helped me develop other professional skills such as effective public speaking and communication etiquette.
What I wish was different
I wish the internship had been for a longer duration, however, I would have also liked to been able to learn about the company’s other departments in case there are other opportunities available in the future.
Advice
The advice I would give would be to understand how crucial proper email and phone etiquette is in the professional world. Many of the customers I interacted with were very impressed by my communication skills and they said it made doing business with the company more effective and rewarding. Professional communication abilities are the best way to maintain a professional relationship.
