Obtain real world professional skills and have the summer of your life empowering the next generation.

Check out opportunities for High School seniors, recent graduates, young adults, educators, health and outdoor professionals, and Girl Scout enthusiasts! We hire for a range of positions from kitchen help, lifeguards, day camp or overnight camp counselors, wranglers (horse staff), unit supervisors, administrative team members, health supervisors, and more!

Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails (GSNMT) owns and operates three (3) camp properties. Rancho del Chaparral camp staff will get ~10 days of staff training; where Elliott Barker and Do-si-dos staff will get between 4 – 8 days of training depending on their specific job (ropes course staff, administrative staff, and supervisors will have more training days than other staff). We iffer overnight or day programming for campers to attend on their own, as well as Troop and Family camps (3 or 5 day options available).

Rancho del Chaparral (Jemez Mountains, NM)
Located in the Santa Fe National Forest through the Jemez Mountain range between Jemez Pueblo and Cuba, NM Rancho is a traditional, rustic camp with a four (4) sleeping units ranging from platform tents to Adirondacks and Hogans. With 1200+ acres there are several outposts for overnight camping and horseback riding trips, a stream for “river” stomping and science exploration, multiple fields for outdoor games, and is in close proximity to Fenton Lake and Valles Caldera for day trips. Check out the camper program book for more details on specific week themes and programs!

Elliott Barker (Angel Fire, NM)
Located near the town of Angel Fire, Barker offers accommodations in platform tents or rustic cabins (limited or no electricity). Barker hosts our pond, high and low ropes course, gaga ball pit, 550 acres for camping and hiking, and is near Carson National Forest and Eagle Nest Lake for off-site explorations! Troops and families will have the option of a 3-day (Friday – Sunday) or 5-day session (Sunday – Thursday). Day camp will run simultaneously Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Both Rancho and Barker enjoy warm to hot days (70 – 90 degrees) and cool to cold nights and mornings (50 – 40 degrees) throughout the summer with occasional afternoon and overnight thunderstorms during monsoon season. Both properties have latrine or port-o-pottie style toilets and shower houses (with hot and cold water of course). Laundry for staff is available at both locations. Barker was updated several years ago with flush toilets added to the cabin living unit.

Do-si-dos Day Camp (Albuquerque, NM)
Based out of the Albuquerque Council Offices our Day Camp experience exposes campers in Kindergarten through 5th grade to the camp experience. Whether they’re seasoned summer camp attendees or first timers they’ll be able to experience sports and games, arts and crafts, science experiments, camp songs, outdoor skills, and more! Day Camp runs Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 4:30 pm for campers. Staff are required to be there a little earlier and a little later for set up and cleaning.

Lifeguards (Red Cross or equivalent) and Kitchen Assistants (NM Food Handlers Certification) must come to camp with their own certifications. All staff will have the opportunity receive Wilderness First Aid certification and/or Red Cross First Air/CPR training during staff training. All staff will also receive a Youth Mental Health certification. Some staff will also receive archery instructor certification and ropes course facilitation certification.
