I got really close with the staff, I love being outdoors, and I loved working with kids.
What I wish was different
A lot had to be done with a small staff due to a tight budget. The council that is above camp management was of no help whatsoever.
Advice
If you love being in nature and you love working with kids, Girl Scout camps are a great option.

What I liked
Everything- I made tons of new friends from all over the world, I got to work with kids everyday, and I was in nature the entire time. Being a camp counselor got me out of my shell and opened my eyes to amazing new people and experiences I wouldn't have been able to get anywhere else.
What I wish was different
The only thing that could have improved the job would be getting paid minimum wage, but it didn't bother me that I wasn't getting paid much. It didn't even feel like a job most of the time because I was having so much fun.
Advice
Always keep an open mind and a positive attitude. And paper towels don't make good firestarters.
