Good Samaritan Health Center

Clinical volunteer

June - August 2019 • Norcross, GA

What I liked

I was able to be one on one with patients in taking their vitals, greeting them, and discussing any information they wished me to relay to the MA or Doctors. I loved developing relationships with patients as they would remember me everytime they came in. I also liked getting hands on experience in the field I hope to pursue.

What I wish was different

Nothing. As a volunteer, I understood the limit on my responsibilities and duties as I was not constantly supervised and had no actual medical degree/background. The amount of work given to me was good and the staff and patients were both kind to me.

Advice

When going into any medical volunteer/work/internship, be prepared to be on your feet at all times. The clinic was constantly busy and even if there was down time, there is always something to be done.

Farm hand

February - June 2018 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I loved working with and growing food ! I also loved being help to provide healthy produce for the local community.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to grow a wider variety of produce. I also wish that there was some way to see if the produce was increasing the the patients overall health.

Advice

I think that it was a great experience and it gave me a lot of insight into the different environments and communities that I otherwise may have never seen.
