GradGab

Go-To-Market Intern

June 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Interning at GradGab has been such a fantastic experience. The founders all work extremely hard and even then they are always there to help and discuss ideas with you. They create a fun, relaxing, and collaborative working environment, which makes me proud to be a member of the team. If you're looking to grow a lot personally, GradGab is certainly the place. My work here has always been very interesting, and it definitely encourages an out of the box thinking mindset. Since this internship is remote, it also perfectly works with my schedule. I am honestly so grateful to have joined such a fun, talented, hardworking, and supportive community to help change the way prospective students explore colleges! GradGab is truly the best!

What I wish was different

Honestly, nothing! I just wish the team could meet in person, but even then it has been amazing.

Advice

Don't be afraid to share what's on your mind, since even the slightest thing can be valuable.

What I liked

GradGab has been such an awesome experience. It's been so convenient and flexible for me as a college student because I have been able to find convenient times to have these conversations. To be honest, it is a really fun time because these high school students are just looking to learn about my school in a really chill way, so I just get to talk to them almost as if they're a sibling by recounting stories. Of course, answering specific questions about academics, culture, and resources is part of it but that aspect is cool too, because you get this sense of giving back by helping the next generation. The app is so easy to use and the features are so nice and simple. Overall, the simplicity of the work, the convenience per my schedule, and the great amount of pay make GradGab the most valuable job I have ever held.

What I wish was different

I honestly just wanna talk to more students, this is great!

Advice

Remember that you were in high school a few years ago too, so just think about the types of things you wish you could have known back then. Overall, just be yourself and have fun!

Go-To-Market Summer Intern

June 2020 • Boston, MA

What I liked

As my first official internship in the United States, I could not be more grateful for the supportive GradGab team! Since day one, everyone on the team was welcoming and willing to help. I value the social impact that this start-up is fostering, such as helping potential college applicants to find their "perfect fit" college for a very affordable price. I wish I had something like this when I was applying to college. Moreover, everyone on the team treats you well despite the position of an intern and provides an opportunity for personal growth. It is definitely not your "nine-to-five" internship where you bring coffee and sort out documents! I was very lucky to become a member of the GradGab Family.

What I wish was different

I wish I had the opportunity to meet the team in person and share some real-life experience as an intern.

Advice

Do not treat this job opportunity like a normal one! It is definitely so flexible and encourages that it brings you motivation to do things you have never done before, and learn from the best people in the game.

What I liked

GradGab is the best, it's truly the ideal college job! You set your own hours to get paid to talk about your college experience, so it perfectly works with your schedule. I love the fact that i'm helping students learn about colleges in new, friendly, and exciting ways. To be honest, being a mentor is fun and i'm always looking forward to speaking to my next student. The atmosphere of my conversations is very stress-free and this has really made students open up to asking questions they would have otherwise felt uncomfortable asking and enabled them to gain a real view of the college lifestyle. From speaking about athletics to clubs and science classes, it has been an amazing experience to become a leader and see how comfortable students become with you. As a person who went through the college process twice since I ended up transferring institutions, I know that GradGab would have helped me tremendously along the way, and I am so happy to provide guidance to students who were once in my position!

What I wish was different

I wish I had the opportunity to speak to a few more transfer students to give them more tips on navigating through college a second time! Everything has been fantastic at GradGab, it feels so rewarding to share my experiences with others in a fun and informative manner!

Advice

Carefully reflect on your journey to college so that you can speak to some of the hardships that come along with the process.
