I love being able to work directly with the families I care for. It’s easy to connect with them on a daily basis and self-determine my own schedule.

What I liked
Creating an environment that made the client feel like they were a normal person, without a disability or being bound to a wheelchair.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have worked more hours for her so that the client would not be sitting at home by herself or so that we could travel to farther destinations and be able to spend the day going to the museum or something of the sorts. There is only so much you can do in a small town.
Advice
It was definitely a challenge at the beginning, but it has helped me grow and become more mature because somebody else was dependent on me. My actions were not only going to effect myself, but the client as well.
