Invesment Banking Summer Analyst

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I liked the responsibility given to each intern, as well as the programming for interns including a "Lunch and Learn" series, mentor / mentee pairings, modeling challenges, and various networking and social events throughout the summer. Additionally, being able to work closely with experienced bankers and be part of a small team doing impactful investment banking work was great to experience so early on.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten more experience on live deals throughout the summer rather than more internal-focused or research-oriented work, which would have given me a more accurate experience and a better idea of what being a banking analyst actually entails.

Advice

Take advantage of the sheer number of people willing to help, and pick analysts' brains about their work and their experience. Network as much as possible both before and during the summer, and be organized early on.
