Door to Door Salesman

May - August 2021 • Reno, NV

What I liked

I really enjoyed how I was pushed to be outside of my comfort zone. My communication skills and confidence have incredibly improved. It was also able to add a very good resume booster and has allowed me to get more interviews and oppertunities I wouldnt have been able to get if I hadn't have done this.

What I wish was different

I wish I had prepared more before going out this summer. I had many oppertunities to try to work on my sales skills during the school year and passed on it. If I had started earlier, I know I would have done better.

Advice

It is a challenging and difficult job but it is so worth it in the end. You will be pushed and work incredibly hard but you gain an incredible amount of skills and compensation,

What I liked

I'm now doing this review after growing and franchising with the company. I liked that there was a lot of room to grow with the company, and they take the time to invest in you if you're willing to work hard. I do, however, warn anyone applying for this job that it is not easy. When working for a company that pay relies heavily on commission, it's up to you on how much you make in the end. There were many times I worked 10+ hours instead of the 8 hours required to increase my production. I have worked through storms, hail, and tropical depressions, not because I had to, but because I knew it was up to me to decide what I wanted to earn. The culture is fantastic if you see yourself as a hard worker, have a good work ethic, and are emotionally intense. You will be encouraged to push yourself rather than what you're comfortable with because the leadership understood your true potential instead of the cap you set prior. Even though there were many days where I hit a lot of lows, looking back at the end of the summer, I have grown more than I ever expected through simply knowing doors, and that's why I continued to work and grow with this company.

What I wish was different

I believe everything for me went well, and I was satisfied with how the internship went. The only tricky part for me was relocation for the summer, but I hit a rent bonus which allowed me to earn rent for free while working.

Advice

I would say be honest with yourself, and if you're not ready to commit to a challenging internship, you will not be satisfied with your summer. The best interns who came out always were willing to work hard, competitive, and driven. If you want to work in a place where you have complete responsibility for your performance and pay, this is the place for you, and you will be surrounded by many people with the same mindset ready to grow.

What I liked

Fun, competitive work environment. Great team members, and a wonderful city.

What I wish was different

Longest hours of my life. I understand you need to be out there on the doors to sell, but it's a lot of work in scorching heat.

Advice

Bring water bottles, and light clothes. You're gonna be hot.

What I liked

My favorite part of this company was the culture. The money and the skills I learned here were amazing but being able to travel out of town to somewhere I’ve never been with a group of people I’ve never met and become such great friends with along the way is priceless. I will cherish the time spent with these people forever

What I wish was different

The whole experience was great. I don’t really have anything that I wish was different except for the fact that I wish I could have the same team leads for next year that I had this year

Advice

Don’t be afraid to push your comfort zone. The best things are on the other side of comfort

Independent Sales Contractor

April - August 2020 • Greensboro, NC

What I liked

I liked that it was mostly paid on commission and I got paid for the hard work it put in. I made way more than I could have with an hourly wage job. I liked that I got to relocate for the summer and housing was provided. The culture was awesome, everyone wanted me to grow and help me gain new skills.

What I wish was different

At the end I was a little worn out from all the hard work and I wished I would have worked even harder at the end.

Advice

Everyone should try sales at least once in your life. If you are positive, coach able, and a hard worker this job will pay off and you will gain a ton of experience.

Marketing Intern

What I liked

Great experience, professional and personal. Competitive aspects make working towards goals fun and exciting. You get to live in a beautiful city with plenty of things to do. You really feel like part of a team, and you're given all the resources you need to better yourself.

What I wish was different

More leniency with personal/sick days. This job is not for the weak willed. You will be walking all day, outside, in southern heat, 6 days a week. Most people get burnt out. I wish they would be more considerate of this.

Advice

Drink lots of water, study all the resources you're given, and practice with your mentors. You WILL be successful if you do these things.
