It was a very humbling experience and I got to see the behind the scenes process of how the non-profit operated. I took hot line calls and went over the policies and paperwork with incoming residents. I also observed what to do if someone was having conflicts or a personal emergency and if police had to be called for any reason.
What I wish was different
I wish there was more order in what tasks I could do couldn't do as an intern. Also, one of the girls was negative about things.
Advice
Definitely go into it knowing that some things you cannot control and that some moments will be emotional.
