The group of women that I worked with were all friendly. They made sure to make me feel included and were eager to help me with anything. The whole team seemed like a non-toxic environment, which made it easier for me to let my guard down.
What I wish was different
I wished I had been done with school so I could have stayed longer. I would like to come back and work for them.
Advice
Don't be afraid to mess up and always be open to criticism. It's going to be awarding in the long run.

I liked that I was able to get hands on tours of all the different elements of the shipyard, and that I was able to do real work for our Navy.
What I wish was different
I wish the other returning interns and I had been assigned to a group project like the new interns.
Advice
You get out of it what you put into it. They won’t force you to do a lot of work, but there is as much available as you could possibly want to do.

What I liked
The team I was assigned was friendly and helpful. They gave me work that eventually got harder and harder to challenge me and my knowledge. I also assisted with other teams in the office for diverse work experience.
What I wish was different
Nothing really on the work side. I wish the HR managing the interns sent letters to our bosses when they wanted to kidnap the interns for an event.
Advice
Always ask questions because there are no stupid questions. You can only grow and it shows that you are willing to learn.

What I liked
I loved being able to work in different areas of business management (contracts and billings). This allowed me to create connections through all of business management. I also liked that I as long as my manager was happy with my work, I am guaranteed a job after graduation.
What I wish was different
I wish that the onboarding process was a little bit smoother. Since it's a large company caring confidential information, there are a lot of background checks and role approvals that needed to be done.
Advice
TALK TO PEOPLE. Do not just sit in your cube and do nothing, go find something constructive to do, even if it's not something that is extremely interesting (filing), your manager will notice you're taking the initiative and that always helps.

What I liked
I loved actually being able to be hands on in this role. It was also nice to equally balance the desk time and field time.
What I wish was different
One thing I wish was different about this internship was how they placed their intern candidates among the company. The candidates had no choice in this process and I wish there would have been two or three choices to pick from instead of being placed where they thought you might fit.
Advice
If you love the hot weather than this is the place for you. It was very humid during my time down in Virginia and it was very important to stay hydrated since the position I was in had me climbing up structures and walking upwards of 2 miles a day.
