Software QA Automation Engineer Intern

May 2024 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

I value the positive workplace environment at HCHB and camaraderie within the company, where everyone was welcoming and supportive. As a Co-Op, I received much support from my team in helping me learn and get up to speed to the teams operations. I felt like a valued member of the team with how welcomed, involved, and integrated I was into my team, where my input was also appreciated.

What I wish was different

The Dallas office would benefit from hosting more "in-office." With numerous teams and workers who are remote in our company, increasing the number of events would foster a stronger sense of community and potentially enhance interdepartmental collaboration.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience is to fully embrace HCHB's "CARES" motto, which stands for Care, Act, Respect, Excel, and Smile. As an intern, don't be afraid to ask questions; everyone is welcoming and happy to help out. They understand you're an intern, so asking questions is encouraged and considered a healthy way to learn. It's perfectly okay to rely on your teammates and colleagues for support and guidance.

What I liked

I enjoyed the workplace environment created at HCHB, everyone was very welcoming and grateful. The work was challenging and my team was helpful in my learning and getting me up to speed. I felt like apart of the team and my input was appreciated at our team meetings.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to shadow a department like Technology to get some coding experience but the workload and COVID didn't allow for this.

Advice

It's okay to rely on your teammates when you need assistance, teamwork allows us to grow our skills and knowledge base.

Corporate Services Co-Op

May - August 2019 • Louisville, KY

What I liked

The people are extremely friendly and I always felt comfortable working with anyone and addressing their tech problems. The management team valued my input even as a just a Co-Op.

What I wish was different

I maybe would have wished to do more advanced work as I was just help desk.

Advice

Always be kind and respectful no matter the situation and people will love you. Most employees are stressed about their deadlines and tech problems can be a real headache. If you smile and be kind no matter how small the problem it helps make their day better.
