What I liked

The location was amazing, and the work was different than any other I have done. It was slow, more tailored to specific customers, and centered around hospitality.

What I wish was different

I wish that they had respected my availability. I told them I was only able to give them 15-20 hours a week because I wanted to have time to shadow a doctor, but they would schedule me up to 40 hours a week which is full time, while still paying me part time wages.

Advice

I would advise anybody to stand up for themselves and don't let yourself get taken advantage of. You are the most important in your work relationships, and you need to prioritize your time and your mental health.

What I liked

I was given real tasks that were very applicable to what I have learned in my classes. Very flexible scheduling and good training program too.

What I wish was different

The demographic of people I worked with were a lot older so it was hard to connect and be apart of the culture.

Advice

Always ask questions and show that you can take on more responsibility which gives you more opportunity to be doing different tasks everyday.

What I liked

Working on the beautiful Hotel del Coronado and meeting people from all the over the world. Arguably the best hotel in the United States, it was unreal spending time on the beach as a job while meeting fascinating people.

What I wish was different

I wish I would of had some friends working with me to enjoy it alongside me. However, I did get to meet some great coworkers who I am still in contact with today.

Advice

A really nice service job can be very beneficial. Being personable with customers and helping them enjoy their beach experience to the best of my ability taught me so much. You can meet and talk with a lot of fascinating people that will help broaden your perspective on life and experiences.
