What I liked

Loved the way the corporation puts employees over profit. The benefits are great and the experience gives you many transferable skills.

What I wish was different

I wish the operating systems didn't change as much as they did. Although, I could've started working during a transitional period.

Advice

Customer service is always a hard industry. Put on a smile and be most helpful to the irritable guests.

What I liked

Working in an extremely professional business environment was an amazing way to train myself to be ready for the workforce once I graduate college.

What I liked

The busy and vibrant environment of the hospitality industry is exemplified in a hotel like the Hyatt Regency, Chicago where 2000+ rooms reign over the Chicago skyline. The people and the connections you make in such a active environment is incredible. I had a great opportunity to learn a lot about people and how to thrive in a big city like Chicago, Illinois!

What I wish was different

The often strenuous and long hours at the Regency were at times difficult to cope with. While I believe that the lessons I had learned far outweighed the cost, the non stop nature of the industry can be overwhelming. I had worked every hour of the day by the end of my internship. I am hoping for a better work life balance in my future.

Advice

Always accept any chance to try something new. Never turn down a task and put yourself out there! You are the youngest, most un-experienced individual in this hotel. Do not forget your place but also do not forget where you dream of going! People will see your motivation as a magnet.
