ICAP at Columbia University

Student Researcher

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I spent my summer conducting child and maternal health HIV-related research in Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland) with Columbia University's (ICAP) MHIRT Fellowship Program. My experience ignited a passion for both promotion of women's health and global health as a future public health physician. What I appreciated most was the constant support of both my personal and professional development.

What I wish was different

Everything went smoothly. There is nothing that I would change about the program.

Advice

I would recommend students be open and flexible in their time abroad. Everything won't go as planned but it will overall be a transformative experience.
