Script Writing Intern

May - June 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The ability to work remotely, that's about it.

What I wish was different

I wish the scripts I was writing were more substantial, mostly it was just "Top Seven" list type kind of things, which got very boring. They expect you to work 30-40 hours a week as an unpaid intern, which is absolutely absurd. My internship was to last 3 months but I quit once I found this out. Also there was a disconnect between who my actual supervisor was and I experienced a ton of miscommunication over how many scripts per day I was supposed to write. Then I was told that I had to run two social media accounts, posting on both several times each day, in addition to my script writing, and this wasn't even in my original contract. Overall, not a good experience at all.

Advice

Find another internship. There are better ones out there.

The experience I got working with people in the industry I desire to be in.

Advice

Fashion Design Intern

May - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I liked the experience I got from the job if you want a fashion internship it is a good way to see the business side of things. However the work load for an unpaided internship is not fair you work very long hours with little break when you start going into the office.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship would have been paided due to the hours.

Advice

Make sure you are really dedicated to your internship its like a job, they can fire you if they think you aren't taking it seriously.

Market research intern

May - September 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Researching interesting brands and firms.

What I wish was different

Communication from my supervisors should have better, my assignmnets should have been better defined, I should have gotten more feedback on my work, and I should have had more face-to-face interaction with my employers (the internship was mostly tele-commuting).

Advice

Ask to go into the office and just generally be proactive.

Journalist Intern

May - September 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I like that I got to chose what stories I wanted to write about. It definitely challenged me (for the better) to write 3-4 stories every day about current events.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship was more structured. Personally, I like time frames and organizations because of my tendency to be laid-back. A schedule and more communication through the team would've been helpful.

Advice

Make sure you don't procrastinate and try to be as unbiased in your writing as you can be.

Writing Intern

May - June 2018 • La Mirada, CA

What I liked

Working remotely at my own pace, flexible schedule, kind and understanding employers

What I wish was different

More concrete tasks, supervision of tasks, better organization, more professionalism

Advice

Look for as many opportunities as you can and take something that really interests you. You don’t always have to say yes to the first one that comes.
