Maintenance Craftsman

August 2018 • Pocatello, ID

What I liked

The flexibility is top-notch for a full-time student. You can work up to 20 hours a week during the Fall and Spring semesters and up to 40 in the summer. It's a work-study program so all of the income you generate in nontaxable so long as you don't work more than 20 hours in a week.

I wish that the housing department had a central location to store all of their tools/supplies.

Advice

Work hard and you earn the respect of your superiors. This will help when you want an increase in wages.

Teacher's Assistant

June 2017 - July 2019 • Pocatello, ID

What I liked

The position I held was closer to an assistant instructor. I love being able to teach people, especially when they can look at a problem and see that they now have enough of an understanding to complete it on their own.

What I wish was different

It was only a part-time job and it is only available during the summer. It would have been nice if there was enough funding for it to be a full-time position.

Advice

Sometimes having the experience of the job is worth more than the pay you get, though having good pay and experience would probably be best, the experience is more than worth it.

Mail Handler

January 2019 • Pocatello, ID

What I liked

I love the environment and my coworkers. They are all very easy to work with and the job is perfectly set up for a college student.

What I wish was different

I was hoping for a raise, but I got one at the end of the summer anyway. Other than that there wasn't really anything I would have changed. I suppose more hours at work would have been nice just to save up a little more for this academic year.

Advice

If you are a college student looking for a job get one on campus! Sometimes they are hard to find, but they are worth it. On campus jobs work around your schedule a lot and they understand that you are a student. The employers are very kind and polite and always willing to help you out with anything you need.
