Illinois Bone and Joint Institute

rehab technican

June 2022 • Morton Grove, IL

What I liked

I like the variety of patients I work with (of many cultures and backgrounds). Being able to treat patients and help them recover from their injuries has been a tremendous highlight of my experiences working at IBJI. Knowing that I directly help/or encourage people to recover from their injuries can be a very rewarding experience (for both patient and for tech/clinician who played a vital role in the patient's recovery). Honestly, what made my day was conversing with my coworkers and patients. I truly enjoyed working with my fellow techs/clinicians. Regarding my patients, talking about life and experiences really makes the workouts engaging and fun for the patients and myself. The constant interaction is very engaging and makes me enjoy coming to work. I would say for anyone who is interested in becoming a rehab technician (great practice/or experience for grad school- counts for hrs. of patient experience as well) if you enjoy small talk and conversing with a diverse group of people, this job is for you.

What I liked

I loved working with patients everyday and getting to build relationships with them. Also, all of the therapists, rehab aids, and front desk staff were a pleasure to work with and were very welcoming.

What I wish was different

I wish the pay was more but the experience was worth it

Advice

I would say that don’t be afraid to try and get to know every patient, they all have a great story!
