Advice

Step out of your comfort zone and apply for everything you could do, even if you aren't sure or don't think you'd be the best candidate. You'll be surprised how often employers are looking for soft skills more than technical knowledge.

Associate Software Engineer

January 2019 • Provo, UT

What I liked

I got to learn what it’s like to code in an Agile development environment and do what a normal software engineer does. It took a while to feel comfortable, but I’ve learned a lot from engineers with many years of experience and gotten an idea of what I need to do to be successful.

What I wish was different

It initially felt a little unstructured, so it was difficult to get into the swing of things. I still struggle with not knowing a lot of things, but it’s gotten better.

Advice

Soak in as much knowledge as you can from the people smarter than you, and take on difficult tasks. Doing things you haven’t learned in school will make you stand out to future employers.
