Individual

Caregiver

May - August 2019 • Charlottesville, VA

What I liked

I loved getting to work one-on-one with the woman I cared for. I felt like we developed a close bond and that I was able to give much more personal and hollistic care because of that aspect.

What I wish was different

I wish I had better set up parameters about a strict timeline for when I was to be paid.

Advice

There's a lot of money to be made by working for individual people in the healthcare field, but more importantly its incredibly rewarding. I would recommend that if you are going to work with individuals rather than through an organization that you make sure to set up a pay scale and schedule before-hand to make things easier and less uncomfortable between you and your employer.

Nanny

September 2017 • Castro Valley, CA

What I liked

I am able to watch the triplets grow up into smart, intelligent children. Being there and assisting them in extracurricular activities, tutoring , preparing nutritional meals and snacks, and providing the emotional support and advice that all children need is something I'm grateful to do. The love I receive in return is the greatest reward of all. They're like family now!

What I wish was different

Scheduling some days was very last minute and chaotic. I try my best to accommodate everyone's needs within my schedule; it's all about time management!

Advice

It is so important to be patient and think outside of the box to get children to cooperate with you.
