I really liked that I learned so much about the VFX industry while I was there. I got a feel for a pipeline flow and I was able to contribute to projects that would be published in music videos and Netflix television shows.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to adapt to a faster workflow with my animations like other artists did with minimal effort.
Advice
Even if an internship is unpaid, the experience gained from it can be life changing and eye opening. On top of that, if the internship is a production assistant internship at a renown studio, its still worth applying for and working there.

What I liked
1) I truly enjoyed the work we did at the studio. I was able to observe various elements of the VFX pipeline and allowed to contribute on certain projects.
2) I had the opportunity to work with specific mentors on the team and this allowed me to learn and understand better of what were the current VFX practices.
3) The office culture at Ingenuity Studios is out of this world and it truly made me feel like I was at home and I truly enjoyed being part of the Ingenuity Family.
What I wish was different
1) Perhaps the duration of the internship was slightly too long and maybe too packed as well. It would have benefited everyone if the schedule was more compartmentalized.
Advice
To be fully ready to dive into the VFX industry with an open mind. The VFX industry unlike the Feature Animation Industry, is much more cruel on their artists as the deadlines are much more rougher and the job competition is much more saturated. Prepare to learn everything as quickly and efficiently as possible since the only correct way of working in this Industry is by forcing yourself to make mistakes on your own so that you can learn as quick as possible. Always ask for help as you would be surprised as to how many people would be willing to help you in this really competitive environment!
