I enjoyed learning the physics and techniques of ultrasound, like what each organ is supposed to look like. I also enjoyed talking to the patients and broadening my medical vocabulary while doing so.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have sat in on more procedures; I made the trays up for most of them but I was only needed during thyroid fine needle aspirations. Procedures were the most interesting part of the job.
Advice
Do your best not to judge others for their lack of concern for their clearly concerning health condition. You may think they’re stupid, for waiting for a year to go to the doctor about their pain, but there may be a legitimate reason.
